I'm looking for someone to help me in understanding judging standard poses in a pageant.
When I started judging Petz shows, one of the greatest tools was having a person explain to me how they placed Petz in a closed show they just judged.
Could I ask if anyone has the time, would they like to point out a previously judged show and explain why they placed the babyz where they placed? It could be a private message if you feel more comfortable ^^
I've looked at other shows and am really at a loss for how things place and would really love any advice. I want to host more shows, but I also want to know that I'm doing it mostly right.
I’m happy to help too Thor if you want to message me. What type of examples are you after? The big smiles (mouth open or not) I usually tickle my little ones for, the o face I take clothes on and off and eye roll is just pure luck 😂 I find some babyz eye roll all the time and some hardly ever.
Thor, I'm a little late to this thread, but if you want extra assistance I can help. When judging a pageant it's all about your personal preference to a strong degree. The standard poses are just a standard, but everyone has their own personal opinions about what is actually a good pose. I know for me personally I will place wide smiles higher than the other poses because I'm traditional and that's my preference for a standard pageant. Some people will look more to how well the picture fits the pageant theme over the pose itself for placement. Some prefer O faces or squishy smiles. Some like head tilts and will place them higher. Others prefer a non tilted head pose. Some are more picky about how the pose looks, whereas others are not. Like I said, totally your personal preference so please don't feel pressured to judge your pageants a certain way.
Thor, I don’t place those as higher! Kissy faces are easy for me to get a lot or at least easier than long O or D faces, but eyerolls are random but I think BCRS included them a few years ago to include more poses to place higher up, but I wouldn’t say they place higher than a D or anything, but it’s totally up to you! 😊
