For all of those who would like to run Babyz on linux or are curious how I do it:
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONISIBLE FOR ANY ISSUES OR LOSSES THAT MAY RESULT IN THE USE OF THIS TUTORIAL.
Point A: you must be linux literate and able to operate the terminal to do this tutorial and know what distro you have.
Point B: If you're going to try viavoice do it before building the fooler and use carolyn's version.
Point C: I'm assuming you're using a distro with a bash terminal and GNOME, and (or something that can run Nautilus and gnome-terminal). Dont know what those are? You aren't ready to being following this tutorial.
Installation:
First install wine for your distro(there are directions on WINE's site, here:http://www.winehq.org/site/download). I'm assuming you're using WINE 0.9.44 or later.
Then, in a bash terminal run: winecfg
when the window comes up, go to audio, and click through any errors you may get. Check every audio driver box and the one on the bottom that says 'Driver Emulation" (this should make sound work, if it doesn't, I can't help). In the applications tab change default settings to 'Windows 2000'. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.
Now, build carolyn's fooler, using the originals scenes/toyz/clothes if you want (get them from DRN and The Babyz Crib). DON'T run it until you install Petza.
Go to Sherlock software and download petza, and save it to your desktop. You'll need to show it where Babyz is manually.
Now, go to where Babyz is in Nautilus and run babyz.exe by double clicking it. Click through any error messages and ta-da! Babyz works!
Known issues:
Sound does not always work, neither does mic.
Babyz gets stuck loading. Go to a terminal, run winecfg, and go to the graphics tab, and uncheck allow winodw manager to manage windows. When you get error messages, click do not show this message again, on all of them and then you can let the window manager mange windows again.
Lnz Pro, Tinker, Infranview (for BMPS):
you will find msc42 in your babyz directory. copy it to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows. Run winecfg in the terminal and go to the libraries tab, and add a DLL override for msc42 dll.
Install Tinker, Lnz Pro, Infran View. To convert BMPS to the right colours, go to Image....Decrease colour depth. Choose a custom number 925) and save, and you have a working BMP.
To open something in Lnz Pro, drag it in from a Nautilus window DON'T use the open dialog, it's broken.
Rez hexing now works, BTW. Having issues? I might be able to help, so give me a a PM, but no garentees and I may be too busy with school to help you.
Hope it helps!
BACKUP babyz files JUST IN CASE.
