BMPs on Mac?

i cannot for the life of me properly and easily convert a png file to a 256 bmp on my mac! it makes hexing soo time consuming and taxing, i've literally spend HOURS on bmps before using irfranview but now irfranview is refusing to open so i have no idea how to convert them. :[ i've tried using an online converter and it saves them as .bmps but when i put them in my clothes folder they don't show up in the game. anyone figured this out?

Ainsley ♡ how i do it is save the image as a gif in photoshop and then open the gif in ms paint and save as a 256 bmp. that's the only way i've found to do it while still keeping the colors fairly decent!

oh wait rofl macs don't have ms paint - i think you can use paintbrush or similar! i'll go look and see what i used!

i just tried saving it as a bmp in paintbrush and in photoshop and neither worked. :[ grrr so frustrating! thanks! <3

aha, i found it - it was macpaint x, but it looks like it doesn't work anymore on the newer OS's. :/ that's dumb, there has to be a mac program that saves in 256! [researches] haha

If you need someone to convert for them I'd be happy to do it and send 'em back in the correct format? I think that would work! I have no idea how to use macs. Haha. Sorry!

aw thanks samia! that would be a huge help, but i'm always having to change the sizes of the images to get them to fit right, so i have to do a lot of tweaking in an image program to get the positioning right and i don't want to be sending you like 10 different images for each one lol. i'll keep looking!

Ainsley ♡ irfranview was my life saver! Mine refuses to work on my mac too! What I do now is I throw one of my bmp colour files that work in babyz into photoshop and edit on top of it. It will only let you use bmp colours and when you save it will ask to save as the 8bit colours or something :] It works out easier than irfranview anyway!

I am no help at all, but I reuse an old bmp that I have that's already saved in 256, and when I put a new bmp over the top I recolour it to 256 (I use the babyz colour chart and use the 'eye drop' tool to select a colour), and that's how I get mine to work (I work in paint.net)

Otherwise I use MS paint when I'm given a complicated bmp and it's being persistent about not showing up, but I know you can't get it to work...
