Best way to reduce to 256 colors?

Infranview Image -> Reduce Color Depth -> 256 colors, and check use floyd-steinburg dithering for playscenes (not toys or clothes!).

HEY so I was having the same issue and here's what I figured out (roundabout but it works):
- reduce to 256 however you usually do it (I like infranview) save as .bmp
- import as a frame to tinker (doesn't matter what kind of file you're using as you aren't going to save it) with tinker set to babyz palette
- export that frame to bmp
- THEN re-reduce to 256 colors (I like infranview) <3
This got my nursery working!
