Now that I have the new Win 10 comp set up, I've installed the game (w/help from Dell) but am having a couple issues that prevent my playing!
1-Obviously, Via Voice doesn't work! I've tried every fix available and still nothing!
2-I used a disk to install and the game opens up OK! But when I put in the code, it 'thinks' for way too long and doesn't open with a baby! I made and tried putting a baby in the adopted folder without any luck there as well!
3-WORST thing ... for some reason, when I copied the folder of hexed clothes from the flash drive onto the desktop it asked how to open the .clo files. I clicked to bypass it but somehow all my .clo files are now changed so the path shows them to be opened in paint and I'm afraid they'd error up even when/if the game worked!
If anyone has had any of these problem and has a resolution, PLEASE let me know! I'll try anything!
All of these issues are extremely frustrating ... NOTHING is similar to what the game looked like on my XP and I can't even figure out how to open the game to add toyz or clothes even if the danged thing worked!!! As a result, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the old XP back just for the game and all! Just need to get a custom made cord for my monitor (don't want or have room for 2). Gayle ordered 2 new mouses from Amazon cuz my old one is very old and is ready to be replaced anyhow!
Yeah ... & I love my old XP! Everything is so much easier and accessible! The Win 10 is soo different even tho I've been using Gayle's for about a year for stuff the XP doesn't allow anymore! Been emailing things to myself between the 2 comps! I'm kinda lost without the kidz now ... at least I can get old pictures to work for pageants since everything is backed up on flash drives!
I hope the .clo isn't an issue once I get things working ... so long as I don't open any of them I'm thinking it should be OK, too!
Now I really have to go ... Gayle is getting antsy cuz we don't want to be out too late as she has an 8AM Dr. appointment tomorrow!
The clothes should not be an issue. I had somehow done something similar before where I had told my computer to open files with a certain program (I don't remember which one), but that is just the default program that would open them if you clicked directly on a file. The game is made to open them a certain way, this won't change that.
Do you have Petza installed?
Actually now that I'm reading through and thinking through more, I think you might HAVE to do the install where it is bascially side-loading the game via the downloaded files, NOT through the disc. I think it was Windows 10 that I had upgraded to and could not get it to work via disc, so I reset my old laptop back to Windows 8. And then after the fact, someone else discovered that you could make it work by downloading the already installed files.
So ... apparently petza didn't previously install properly as the setup wizard came on ... I've now installed it and will try the game again! AFTER I check on Carolyn's via voice fix! BRB .......

Thanx for asking, Trisha! Unfortunately not! I haven't yet tried the without-a-disk link as yet. I'm still considering getting a new monitor cord for the old XP and using it just for the game.
Oh and part of the problem was my mouse! It was like 10+ yrs old, still works but only the most basic operations! Gayle got me 2 new ones - 1 for each comp/or 1 and a back up - and it's great ... so much easier having a fully functional mouse!
What ever happens, I'll be sure to let you (and anyone else interested) know what I finally settle on! (I miss my Sniggle! )
I thought I'd found the perfect adaptor ... I was wrong! Gayle took a picture/description of what I'm looking for to the IT people at her work and they told her what to look for. Now just to go to Best Buy or Amazon and see if it exists! To be continued!
