Hi all!
It's been a loooong minute since I've been online. The holidays were crazy busy and then some personal health issues between myself and my parents happened. I digress! I went to load up Babyz to get back into the swing of spending time with my little girls when I encountered the dreaded "debug error" while trying to go to the Kitchen playscene. So I think to myself, "Okay. This has happened before. I don't remember what I was last doing, but let's just reinstall that playscene." Nope. No dice. My copy of Babyz is from Kelley's Google Drive link. I kept a backup of it for situations like these. So then I'm all, "Okay. Let's just get rid of it all and start over." I delete Babyz and the backup copy. I downloaded Kelley's copy again and extract the game into my documents folder. So far all goes well, the game loads, it's a fresh start. Here's where it gets weird. I was able to install ViaVoice this go around, but when I went to load up the game again, I got the debug error. I hadn't even added my little girls or all the custom toys and clothes yet. Now I'm pretty frustrated. I come back to The Clinic, read over the "Resources and Common Problems" thread to double check myself, and this time I decided to try and reset the registry. Still getting the debug error. I even checked manually by bringing up regedit and searching for the files listed in the help thread. None of them popped up. Well, once again, I delete Babyz, rebooted, downloaded yet again, and I still can't get past the loading screen because I keep getting debug error. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I hope someone can walk me through this because I miss my girls and I miss talking to you all =(.
EDIT: Oh... My... GOODNESS! I believe I'm "safe" now. I had an idea/assumption in the back of my head along the lines of what if there were still left over ViaVoice files from when it broke? My assumption was right. After many Google searches later and *very carefully* going through my regedit and manually deleting every single IBM and ViaVoice file, I finally have my little girls back. Now all that's left is to put back all the custom toys and clothes, and keep my fingers crossed. I don't know what I did, but I'm *not* touching ViaVoice with a ten foot pole. Hunting down all of those files was a pain in my butt and I'd rather not do that again. I'll just have to live without voice rec when it comes to pageants. May I suggest maybe putting somewhere in the "Resources and Common Problems" thread something about making sure you thoroughly delete all files when it comes to debug error and the regedit? I'm not certain how to word it, but maybe my goof can be a lesson learned and save someone else from potential headache/heartache lol.
