Sooo I got this big idea to hex Emiko when I saw this picture:
Really hard to translate to a babyz, right?
Soo, I drew a version of what I wanted her hair to look like on a babyz in Paint Shop Pro.
In order to make sure the hairstyle I hexed would look like this, I used my paint brush to place 'balls' where the balls of her hair would be. I did one 'chunk' of hair at a time. Here I did a chunk on the right side of her head. I used alternating colors to make them easier to see.
This diagram acted as a guide when I was hexing the hairstyle. I went into LNZ pro and started placing the balls where they were on the 'diagram' I had just made.
The great thing about this is that you can make sure the ball placement is exactly the same as it is on the diagram. If you want to make sure the balls line up, take a picture of your hexie looking straight on. Now paste it as a new layer on top of your diagram in Paint Shop Pro. Delete the white background and make the layer opacity 50%. Now you can see how the balls match up with the diagram.
Zoom in to get a real good look. Now you can see that you need to budge some of your balls around to make it perfect.
I always use alternating flat colors on the balls when I hex too-here I used 70 and 71. You can texture them later.
Hope this helps! I found it very helpful when hexing my latest hairstyle-it took out all of the headaches and guesswork. It's still time consuming though!
