surprise!! the event is still going up on february 3rd, but i am posting the borrowdoption thread early to give everyone plenty of time to pick out which growers they want to be in for!

back to basics is all about getting back into playing the babyz game, so we thought: what better motivation to play is there than a grower?? growing babyz grow up a little bit each time you play with them, so there's always a reason to open the game and see what they look like that day!

the most exciting part of growing babyz is that they're pretty much a complete surprise, but that also makes it hard to commit to adopting one into your family permanently before you know if their grown-up self is really your style. this thread is here to solve that problem; the growers below are up for borrowdoption!

wtf is borrowdoption??
borrowdoption means that you can apply to borrow one of the below growers for the duration of our event and use them to take part in the festivities. then, at the end of the week, you'll have the opportunity to adopt them if you've really fallen for their teenyweeny charm, or if not, you can drop them back off here to be adopted out to someone else - no hard feelings!

rules
♥ these will be hattie adoptions! we will draw for them on the day the event goes up (friday, feb. 3rd) so you can jump in right away!

♥ since the hats will be randomized, staff are allowed to borrow as well :-*

♥ each hexer's usual rules apply

♥ you may put your name in a minimum of three hats, with a maximum of five hats. please note that you can only win one baby, so if your name gets drawn twice you will need to pick which one you want most.

♥ if, after the event, you decide you no longer want to keep your grower, drop it back off here & we can rehome them along with any who don't get borrowed!

♥ if you miss the chance to get a grower (or just don't want one), you can still play - you can just keep your playtime journal with one of your own babyz!

this month we are doing a winter refresh: a way to sweep out the dust of 2022 and let in the clean fresh vibes of the new year!

to give everyone a lil post-holiday motivation, each week of this month we will be giving participation point bonuses for doing various refresh/catch-up activities on the forum.

this week's refresh theme is:

this week you will get bonus participation points for doing the following activities:

❄ hexing a simple baby: 2pp
❄ hexing a complex baby: 3pp
❄ hexing a toy: 1pp
❄ hexing a clothing set with 5+ pieces: 3pp
❄ hexing something you've never hexed before: 10pp

bonus bonus points!
❄ hexing something for the upcoming event: 10pp
any clothing set/toy set/playscene that is fantasy-themed or a growing baby (grower)
NOTE if you do this please do not post it publicly - PM to lacey instead!

please reply in the thread to track what you have done so that we know how much to award you!

❄ entering a pageant: 3pp
❄ judging a pageant: 3pp
❄ judging a pageant with awards: 5pp
❄ enrolling a new bcrs baby: 2pp

you can earn points for each instance of these activities!
please note these point amounts are instead of the normal earning amount, not on top of.

the points for hosting, entering, and judging sans awards will be given automatically by the plugin, so no need to track.
however if you judge with awards or enroll a new baby, please reply below to let us know.
staff will award your bonus points for those things at the end of the week!

JANUARY 9, 2023 - FIRST QUARTER POSTING CONTEST

it's time for the first quarter posting competition! this competition will run from today until the 31st of march 2023.

in order to encourage activity throughout the forum and thank you guys for keeping milk going strong, the winner of our quarterly posting contest will earn 5 participation points and a $5 amazon voucher!

all you have to do to enter is reply to this thread with your current post count (including the post you're about to make).

remember posts in the games/surveys area do NOT contribute towards your post count!

❄ rollover from family week - posting a new room in your house board: 4pp

also you don't need to keep track of your individual post count - the forum will automatically do that.
though note that mobile posts won't accrue pp (just a proboards limitation) so if you are posting from mobile you may wanna keep track of those.

❄ posting a new room for one of your babyz in your house (with at least one image): 4pp
❄ posting a banner of one/a group of your babyz: 2pp
❄ commenting on someone else's family threads: 1pp extra per post

*notes*
you can earn points for each instance of these activities except for family banner, which you can only earn once.
posting individual photos (not in a banner) will not earn the bonus points.
(a banner consists of 3+ baby images edited together nicely)

the pp for the family comments will be set to award automatically but for the other activities please reply to the thread to keep track of what you've done.
staff will award your bonus points at the end of the week!

🎵 it's beginning to look a lot like MILKMAS! 🎵

our merry month of milkmas begins december 1st! normally this would mean that it's time for me to get the secret santa signup going, but this year we are doing something a liiiittle bit different!

this year, everyone gets to decorate their own special milkmas tree for their milky friends to leave gifts beneath! the gifts will be completely secret until december 25th, so you'll be able to pile all the secret presents you want under your friends' trees. then, on december 25th, everyone will be able to open their gifts and see what surprises lay waiting for them!

This post marks the start of Pageant Weekend, a full weekend dedicated to hosting and entering pageants!

Everyone who enters three or more pageants this weekend will earn a bonus 3pp.
Everyone who hosts two or more pageants this weekend will earn a bonus 3pp.
Everyone who judges a previous pageant of theirs with awards this weekend will earn a bonus 3pp.
The Milker who hosts or enters the most pageants wins 5pp on top of those!

This post marks the start of Adoption Weekend, a full weekend dedicated to hexing babyz and posting adoptions! Dig out any old babyz that haven't found homes yet and post them today, or hex an entirely new baby to post!

Everyone who posts an adoption thread this weekend will earn a bonus 3pp.
Those who hex a brand new baby specifically for the adoption thread they post will earn a bonus 5pp instead of 3.
Everyone who adopts one or more babyz that were originally posted this weekend will earn a bonus 2pp.

trick-or-treating is now open!

this year's trick-or-treating will take place
friday, october 28 - sunday, november 6

how does it work?

everyone who wants to give out treats will decorate a front door for trick-or-treaters to knock at. you can start getting your door threads up in this board now! then, when the event begins, milkers will go around and trick-or-treat at each other's doors by posting their babyz in costume in the thread!

what kind of treats should i give out?

your treat can be as basic or complex as you want! some examples of treats to send out can be hexed goodies such as toys or clothes, coupons for photoshoots, hexies, clothes, or graphics! the creativity is yours!

can i give everyone the same treat?

you are allowed to send the same thing to every milker, or you can alternate or randomize who gets what. however everyone who knocks does need to receive something!

can i still trick-or-treat even if i don't give anything out?

you may only trick-or-treat if you yourself have a door thread up, unless you are a new or returning member who has joined/returned within the past six months. then you may trick-or-treat without having your own door.

what if i get too busy to give out my treats?

by putting up a door thread you are committing to sending out goodies via PM or email for everyone who replies. if you don't get a chance to send out your goodies during the 10 days of trick-or-treating, you are free to send them afterwards! it's just the trick-or-treating itself that will close.

how do i play?

if you'd like to participate in this year's milk trick-or-treating, simply start your own thread in the trick-or-treating board, decorate your doorstep, and then be prepared for all the adorable trick-or-treaters headed your way!

you can find a blank door template in this thread, but you are also free to find/make your own if you'd rather!

the annual fall festival has rolled into town! this exciting carnival is held once a year to celebrate the season of autumn and spooky october days!

inside the fairgrounds, there are TONS of things to do and see. you can try your luck at a game of chance, get a thrill on one of our carnival rides, win a blue ribbon in our contest hall, and exchange all the tickets you win for exclusive prizes! if you get hungry along the way, you can stop by one of our food stands for some authentic deep fried fair food!

step right up to the fall festival and have some fun!

OCTOBER 10, 2022 - PIXEL QUILT CLUB IS ALIVE!

Hello, everyone! I wanted to share with you all that I have finally created the pixel quilt club!

The idea behind this is that you can create your own patch and share it with each other (or just share your patch with the club ~ no extra steps necessary!) In addition to our "official" patches, you can also collect fun patches in areas that interest you or that are related to special events within the forum!

The club is currently located in The Museum, but you can access it here. You can check out the rules, see what templates/patches we have so far, and check out the current members!

I even created a form where you can easily submit your patch without having to go through uploading and sending links to your image to all of your tradesies!

I really hope you join us! I think it's going to be LOTS of fun 🥳

to make up for the botched pageant weekend and any lost points from pageants between the 13th and 25th, we're having a pageant celebration!!
this will work the same way as pageant weekend but it will last a full week from october 1st-october 7th. on october 7th i will close the september points thread and tally all the points for the BCRS update!

everyone who enters three or more pageants this week will earn a bonus 3pp.
everyone who hosts two or more pageants this week will earn a bonus 3pp.
everyone who judges a previous pageant of theirs with awards this week will earn a bonus 3pp.
the milker who collectively hosts and enters the most pageants wins 5pp on top of those!

babyz will also earn a bonus 5 bcrs points to any pageant placement they earn during this week!

aaaaaand we're back!

welcome back to milk -- we are so happy you're here and so, so grateful to be back!!

so what happened?

on september 25th, two staff accounts were unfortunately compromised using passwords/information found in old internet data breaches. the attackers deleted all of our posts and forum history along with several members, and also defaced the forum with slurs, inappropriate photos, and unnecessary nonsense. we are hereby christening this attack "the tantrum" because, apparently, it stemmed from a former user or users not getting the hexed babyz that they wanted over four years ago. because of something this petty, we almost lost everything.

thankfully, proboards (specifically our #1 hero, scott, and the systems team) was able to restore our beloved little internet home and now we're back and stronger than ever! as several members beautifully said, our community isn't the forum, it's the people. you can't keep us down!!!

is there anything that is still lost?

although they were able to restore MOST of our forum and posts, sadly there were a few things that weren't able to be recovered. they restored the forum back to the state it was in on september 13th, which means any posts or edits made between the 13th and the 25th no longer exist and will have to be redone if needed. we are so sorry for that inconvenience - but it's a small price to pay for getting the forum back <3

there was one area which was a little more impacted which was the pageant hall, but we have a thread in place to try and recover some pageant points, and we will be holding a pageant makeup week to celebrate the forum's return and recoup any lost points - more info on that shortly!

is there anything we need to do to prevent this happening in the future?

great question! we have upped security on both the discord server and the forum, but it is strongly recommended that if you have any other passwords that are the same as your milk password, you change them. we also recommend changing your milk password if it does not meet typical password strength requirements. we recommend a unique password that is 12 characters or more, and contains at least one number, one capital letter, and one special character (such as ! or ?). all staff members are also required to follow these password rules from now on.

is there anything else we need to know?

there are a few weird things that we're still working on.

- a bunch of our plugins got deleted so i will be having to remake the announcement/information table (normally at the top of the forum) and unfortunately our entire badge system got deleted as well which means i'll have to try and get those all set up again and everyone will probably have to re-request their badges. this probably won't happen overnight but i'll be working to get these two plugins functional again!

- a lot of display names are missing symbols that were there previously such as fancy letters or emojis, feel free to edit your display name in your profile to put those back! i'm trying to remove the question marks whenever i see them.

- if you notice anything that seems weird, wrong, or missing, please please let me know either here, discord, or via PM!
