Hello one and all, and welcome to my tutorial on hair tattoos that stay put! If you're here, you probably want to learn how to make hair tattoos that stay put. Well, luckily, I know how to make hair tattoos that stay put and I am happy to share that knowledge with you.
ok let's go
This is Little Basey, one of my hexing assistants! She's here to help out today.
That's Mister Butterfly on her head. They're the best of friends. Look how happy Little Basey is to have a tiny butterfly pal!
But it looks like our butterfly pal is a bit restless. Mister Butterfly can't decide where he wants to sit, and when Little Basey moves around he flies right off her head!
That's a bit rude, Mister Butterfly. I put you on Little Basey's head and I expect you to stay there, you jerk.
Let's take a look at the bmp for this hair tattoo. I've filled the background yellow, so it's no longer transparent and we can see what's going on properly! It seems like Mister Butterfly isn't centered on his addball... but he is centered on his bmp??? Why isn't he where he's supposed to be?
What a jerk.
The addball is also way bigger than it needs to be, but if I were to make it much smaller we wouldn't be able to see Mister Butterfly at all! What to do, what to do?
Not to worry, friends and foes. This is actually very easy to fix!
We're gonna draw two lines that cross right in the center of the bmp.
Just like a crosshairs.
Riiiight on top of Mister Butterfly.
Yup, clearly the bmp isn't centered on the addball. So what we're gonna do...
...is simply shift the bmp around until it is! The bmp is perfectly centered on the addball now. Yaaaaay.
We can get rid of the cross
There we go, back where he should be and actually centered on the addball now!
You can't tell here, but I also made the addball a lot smaller.
Mister Butterfly seems fine now... but what about when Little Basey moves around?
Yep, still fine! He's settled the heck down and stays where I want him to. Little Basey can frolic to her heart's content and Mister Butterfly is just gonna sit on her head and enjoy the ride.
And so are all his friends!! I planted a whole butterfly garden on Little Basey's head, and everything stays where the heck it should, no matter how she moves around! Amazing. I have a texture with a cross on it to use as a base, so it was very easy make all these hairs tattoos. I didn't have to faff around with positioning once!
I'm gonna share that base with you now so you never have to faff around with positioning again, either
I always start with an addball at size 100 and size it up as I need to. This texture works best for small hair tattoos, like the butterflies and flowers on Little Basey's head! Something about the size of the blue circle will fit best - anything much bigger and you'll have to use a ball bigger than 100. The biggest addball on Little Basey's head is size 200.
Also important to note: the part of the hair tattoo you want to be "connected" to your babyz head should go right in the very center of the cross. I'll show you the bmp for the orange flower growing out of Little Basey's head with the cross intact as an example.
See? The bottom of the stem is where the flower should connect to her head, so the bottom of the stem's right smack dab in the center of the cross. The long vines on Little Basey's head are done the other way around - I wanted them to connect to her head at the top so the vines would fall naturally, so the top of the vines are in the center of the cross.
This technique can be used for all sorts of hair tattoos, from animal ears to bmp hair!
I hope this makes life easier for you guys.
~Happy hexing!~
