so, am i the only one that gets completely overwhelmed at the thought of hexing clothes now? i mean, i know how to hex them with no problem, but the idea of creating a full set gives me anxiety LOL. i really want to, though, because i want to get my mootique up and running.
i'm just wondering how everyone else keeps organized? since i've started playing babyz and sims again, my desktop is a total wreck with BMPs, family banners, sims stuff, etc lol. i need to go and create some folders or something.
also, do you all organize your clothes closets in any way or do you just stick everything in the folder? my goal is to eventually organize them in some way (i know you can't have folders within folders in the clothes file), but i want to create folders on my desktop somewhere that have the clothes organized by season, color, or something along those lines so that i'm not scrolling through my clothes closet so much.
i just thought it'd be cool to see how everyone else does it :]
I actually have like a billion folders in my clothes folder! I hear some people have issues with the game running slow from this, but I never had!
So for Babyz Pix, I use that as a folder for anything and everything for banners, forum stuff, etc. The two folders I live out of are my Babyz Pix & Clothes folders so those are favorites in my windows explorer! I have: Babyz Books - These are just folders for each of my kids with their pictures! Forums - All forums, banners, etc. I have this subfoldered plenty so I'll describe more below! Hexies - I needed a place for all my old hexies. My recentish ones and my hexing stuff is in adopted babyz all in one or two folders, but my super old hexies have been placed here with their photos!
BABYZ PIX > FORUMS >> Aquatical Alchemy - All the photos for anything and everything for my subboard (new website since Aquatical is now down) Blushing Mermaid - All my mootique photos! Saved Photos - Anything and everything saved from forums such as keepsakes and such! Photoshoots - Photoshoots I've done recently! Family - Updated pictures for my family portrait! Downsized - Photos of kids I've recently downsized and need to adopt out. Camp Castra - All my CC stuff, which I still wanna do again ASAP!
& Mine looks like this for the clothes closet:
CLOTHES > Babyz Bitmaps - has every. single. bitmap everrr. Ones to hex with and ones that go in the clothes folder for babyz! BMPs - These are cotton BMPs since I use them so much from Milk, Riley, and myself! They are sorted by folders in there by color! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, other (brown, tan, silver, etc) & then a Favs folder for the BMPs I use a lot and like a lot personally! Favorites - These are all my clothes I have downloaded or bought! I'll describe this folder better below Samia's - These are all my hexing tools, patterns, templates, clothes I've hexed, zips for them, etc. I'll describe this below better too!
& currently 10 other random clothes folders with what I am currently hexing by theme. IE. Easter cuz I missed it.
CLOTHES > FAVORITES >> In here, I have clothes sorted by type in folders that match my kids. IE. I have folders that say alien, anchor, bee, rainbow, sea, xmas, etc. Inside are clothes that match those because I have a kid that would match those themes well! I also have another folder for all clothes ever that I have gotten sorted by hexer. The hexers that I have a lot of clothing from are mainly in there, but then there's another folder called "more" that have clothes from hexers that are super old like a decade old I bought and hardly use possibly.
CLOTHES > SAMIA'S >>
In here I have tinker templates directly. But I have subfolders that are: Files - All my base files with a clean slate like diapers, tutus, socks, etc. OLD - All my ancient clothes. Like ancient. lol Patterns - Any type of patterns I use that are geomatric. Cute pixels patterns I can reuse, etc. Working - Full of PLENTY of ideas of things to hex with when I get time! Zips - All my clothes are in here but in zips by set name. and more sub folders for the type of clothes. Costumes, my personal bases, etc.
For hexing clothes I have my spreadsheet, which lives on Google Docs. It has every item of clothing I've ever hexed, along with its ID number and any relevant information about what patterns or colours or whatever I plan to use (both so I can tinker more easily later on, and so I can see whether one pattern's being used way more than others).
Here's some from a while ago. It appears I got the last two tees mixed up ohhhh that's gonna drive me crazy now
The spreadsheet also has ideas for incomplete sets, ranging from literally a single word ('Patchwork' is one) to...almost totally planned out sets which I don't know why I haven't created because everything I need is here except for the patterns...
And then there are THE FOLDERS. Oh man, the folders. These are the ones involving clothes...there's plenty more, too...
Bases (that I hex from) -Game original -Hexed (with their creator info embedded in the .clo file)
Mine (clothes I've hexed) -folders for particular events like the Trick or Treat -Pix (a working folder to create banners) --Complete (banners that are finished) -Retired -all current clothes sets are in their own .zip in here for easy sending
Out (other people's clothes I have organized that are not currently in my game) -each set is in its own folder with its creator's name and, as much as possible, a picture of the set
Patterns (which I intend to use) Any .bmps I'm currently using stay in this folder, along with... -Expand (small pattern sets which need more before I can use them) -Palettes (for sets currently in progress, for easy colour picking - they're deleted once I'm done) -Pngs (patterns stay in .png form until I'm creating a set)
Pixels Any pixels I've found online that either I use over and over (like bows, hearts, etc) or that I plan to use
Tinker bases Literally Photoshop files of every single clothes item I might hex, so I can quickly layer patterns and colours onto the base to tinker stuff
And then WIP progress sets live in the main folder so they're a constant reminder that I haven't finished. It took me ages to come up with this system but it works well for me, I can always find stuff and if I get the urge to hex I have ideas on the go that I can keep working on.
There's, uh. There's plenty more. No one ask how I hex babyz. You don't want to know. the foldersssssss...
I have a folder in my documents called "Ubisoft" which is home to all my babyz and all my petz stuff(it's currently a mess since school led to chaos). Inside it I have a subfolder called "Babyz Downloads" which I keep all clothes, toyz, play scenes, ect. in it in subfolders organized by hexer. I have my own folder for whatever I've finished. I only have whatever clothes in the clothes folder that I am currently using. Because of Petz I don't care much about bmps being messy in my resource folders. Now that I'm out of school that may change.
However, I plan to create documents in scrivener(and I've started a few for my petz files) in Scrivner(it's a word processing program I recommend to everyone, it is fantastic). I will still keep the clothes organized by hexer but they will have tags for colors, seasons, ect. that will make it a lot easier to find with quick searches. I plan on doing something similar for BMPs but also add if they originally for Babyz, Petz(and version) so I know if they look different. When I start organizing the files in scriver I'm going to add IDs. Currently I have a list in notebook ++ with the clothes I've hexed myself.
