Okay, now that it's FINALLY over, I want to go through my day. Because it's not often that I get pissed, especially when it's a retail or similar to retail experience, because I've been there and always will be, but hell, I am pissed.
So my surgery has become one of those where you can't book a doctor's appointment, and instead the doctor will phone you back (after you have spent 20+ minutes in the phone queue, potentially adding another 2 hours to the wait time) to decide IF you need an appointment, and THEN make you one (possibly for the next day because they might have run out by then). So, not having any of that shit today, I went into the surgery bang on opening time (8am) to instigate this, and of course was told I needed to wait for a doctor to call me back. Fine. Went home, this is the only part of the day that went well, despite having to describe in great detail to the receptionist (not medically trained) what my issue was so that SHE could decide if I needed a doctor to call me back so THEY could decide if I needed them. What a shite system.
I did get a doctor to call me back about an hour later, and she immediately starts talking to me as if I was there with her, so we ended up having a phone appointment, which is not what I asked for as I knew due to the nature of the issue she would need a sample. Anyway, she ummed and ahhed for the majority of the time over things that were in her notes but for some reason she needed my confirmation for, and then, 6 minutes into the call, it cut off. I waited for a few minutes thinking she had hung up by accident, and then called the surgery to check what had happened (meaning I was put back in a phone queue - thankfully a short one), and apparently their phone lines had died, and my doctor was already in a phone appointment with a different patient. So, I had to wait for her to call me back again.
Another hour later and I get back to her on the phone and she repeats herself over a bunch of unnecessary stuff that had been said the previous time, and then finally tells me that she needs a sample (I FUCKING KNOW), and she prescribes me the same antibiotics I had last time, and SAYS to me, "I've already done it for you," after I ask if I can pick it up today.
So I go over to drop off my sample to the receptionist and ask for my prescription, and there's no record of it having been done. She tells me to call the surgery AGAIN after 12pm to check if it's there, despite me telling her the doctor had already said it had been done.
So I oblige anyway - at least my sample has been dropped off - and get stuck in a 15 minute long queue only to be told that it STILL hadn't been done, and that I needed to call back later in the afternoon. I'm about to start ripping shit to shreds but I politely oblige, and AGAIN phone in at 3pm. STILL WANK ALL. So she tells me to wait and let her phone me back if she makes any discoveries, you know, about this prescription that has supposedly already been done at about 11am today.
She doesn't phone me back, and it's coming near 5pm, and they close at 6pm, and I know for a fact she ain't gonna care if she doesn't get to me in time, so I go over there again (3RD TRIP) to ask and she is like haha yeah it's been done, I just can't find it...! HAHA, GOOD FUCKING JOKE. And, she tells me the doctor forgot to do it.
She forgot to do the prescription she had already done.
She literally lied to me when she said it had been done. The doctor lied to me.
So I get to wait until about 5:30pm when I am finally given a replacement for the prescription they LOST, get it filled and go home. Now I'm just waiting for a few days to get the results back for the sample, which, by the way, I'm going to have to go back again when they get the results because they told me that if there's any infection at all, they need to take it further, because it's a recurring infection. Yet she already gave me the antibiotics for it, she knows there IS an infection but because I couldn't see her in person she couldn't dipstick the damn thing and see that for herself. Fucking A.
So, in short, it took me from the dead of opening hours to half an hour before closing time to get a resolution to a single, 10 minute doctor's appointment, and the entire day I was panicking and shaking because talking on the phone is one of the WORST things I could imagine, and I had to both receive and make calls a total of FIVE times today.
So, I hope you found that suitably entertaining, as I only posted it to be such. I'm angry at the situation, not the people involved (except the doctor who lied to me I suppose), and I'm nervous about the results and what is coming next. I thought a little post might provide a light overview for anyone looking for a laugh.
