Hey everyone! Many, many moons ago, back when I had my site, Bijou, I hexed this "Real Chair" from Carolyn's hexed highchair, which can be taken in and out of the kitchen cabinet.
Now that I'm back, I'm looking to finish the set with the right-facing chair and a kid sized table. Only problem is, I cannot for the life of me remember how I got the darn thing to show up as itself in the cabinet. Because the original highchair could not be put away, it has no "away" sprites like other toys, so when you attempt to open the sprite in Tinker, it acts as if the sprite is corrupt. I'm guessing I did it in LNZ Pro or Hex Workshop, but well, I'm coming up short. Does anyone remember how to do this anymore?
Here are both chairs as they appear in game in case anyone was interested.
Aside from the fact that the right facing chair doesn't currently appear as itself, I'm also trying to figure out how to make the Babyz sit on it properly. In my head, it seems like I should be able to just replace whatever information that tells the game how to position the baby in the first highchair, with whatever information tells the game how to position the baby in the second highchair that appears when two babies are out. Unfortunately, I am not nearly proficient enough with hexing to know how to do that, or if it's even possible.
Becky ❤, I think the right facing chair sprite is positioned correctly, it's just that when the baby sits in it, she faces left instead of right, because the chair is hexed from the left facing highchair. In the original highchair file, left facing is the default, and the right facing highchair is a secondary option that only appears when there are two babyz present in the game.
I need to figure out how to change this chair to default place the baby in that right facing position but I have nooooo clue how to get it to work.
I just re-read all that and realized that a picture is probably worth a thousand words in this scenario XD Here's what the chair looks like when she sits on it. The game still thinks it's a right facing chair, but as far as I can tell, no one has hexed a chair yet that positions the baby facing right by default.
I would use a file comparison tool on left/right high chairs, find out what is different between the two files *besides* the image section! Carolyn horn has OLD tutorials about filmstrip headers etc that helps you understand what an image file looks like on the inside (it was designed to help you cut up image files before tinker was around for hexing) that might be of use there, besides that I'm afraid it's trial + error!
Hmmm... I'll look into Carolyn's info. I managed to dig it all up and glance over it a few hours ago, but it's pretty heavy. I'll need to sit down and decipher it.
The biggest problem is that both the left and right facing highchairs come from the same file, so it's a matter of figuring out which bits of the code dictate the appropriate positioning of the baby in relation to each sprite, I think. If you open the highchair up in Tinker, you can edit the sprites for the "reversed" chair, listed after the sprites for the left facing one, but only the original high chair ever calls upon those sprites and their corresponding positionining of the baby.
ugh oh dear <3. I tried looking at the file searching for 'rev' didn't get that much - mail her maybe? Or this might be something that Nick @ sherlock software can help with if we could just get ahold of him (this, the crib overlay issue, and repositioning features like the fridge-slide-cabinets within a scene are all things we should be able to do i think if we could just figure out how).
