hi hi hi. so i've been trying to get back into hexing babyz since i came back, but i keep hitting brick walls. the style and format of hexing babyz has changed so much that i'm struggling to find where to begin...
i started out trying to riff off opal's style, but her hair code is an unlabelled mess. i got frustrated super quickly. i have drawn up a couple of styles that i want to make very roughly. i've been reading through the archives and seen a few people mention that they hex hair now using combinations of addballz, linez and drawn bmps. that sounds and looks great! but... where do you guys start? do you tend to start with ballz, or do you draw bmps? and do you find you end up using an even mix of the three techniques, one more than others, or is it difficult to say? does everything come together quite naturally, or do you find yourself redoing bmps halfway through and jigging ballz (lol) all over the place?
any helpful tips would be hugely appreciated!

I draw it up in paint or find something on google images and resize it onto the babyz head image then if its buns il put a bun ball on each side and a ball front and centre about as big as the eye for my fginre start so i cknow where i am startign from and it helps me arrange my ideas. I use hair tattoos as extra really fiddley bits too. but i dont think about bmps until iv done everything else on the baby lol x
yes yes i always draw what i want first so you're on the right track! i also find it helpful to draw dots where each addball would go in a hairstyle so when i'm hexing i can just look and see where to place my next ball.
also, label everything! number the balls and label the sections as to what part of the hairstyle each one is. t may seem super tedious but it's lifesaving honestly, both while hexing and also especially when you go to use the style again.
if you need any help or have any questions my pm box is always open! i love giving hexing help :3

Oh yea, i forgot about organising.. ;number label every line and give each section a name like.. main fringe section or ;right side flick and then you dont need to label linez just add in a ; when that section is done and same for addballz so its easier to tell when a line of ballz you want to connect is finished.
Labelling will save hours of WTF IS THIISSSS!! Next time you go to use the hairstyle again
thank youuuu lacey & nat! you've definitely inspired me to get stuck in again when i get home. i have five styles drawn in my notebook now, i'm definitely going to try putting in circles for where the balls should be and comparing, that's such a good idea!
