Hexing Help -- Can't get textures to show up?

I've been following the tutorial on Babyz.org to try to hex my own kiddo, and up until now everything's gone pretty smoothly. I'm using the StarlaHair released code, but wanted to change the textures to some new BMP's i had downloaded/made. 

According to the tutorial, the last number in the line, means it's the texture. You change the number to the number on the texture list, and it should change it to that texture, right? 






Yet when I change the number, it turns into a mess of base hex colors... any idea what i might be doing wrong? I'd appreciate any insight <3 I'm wracking my brains here lol

Let's see...
I can see you're numbering your texture list to keep track of it. That's fine but make sure you list them with semicolons ;1 ;2 ;3 otherwise the number will change the opacity of the texture and you probably don't want that.

Are the bmps saved as 8-bit 256 colours?

the problem is the numbers in the texture list! make all of them 0 then comment out your numbering with a semi colon.

I tried that too. I decided to reset the textures to the default ones (copy/pasted from wgx) and changed all my texture numbers to 3 (the ones at the end of the hair balls lines) and now it's giving me a debug/abort error. I have no idea what i'm doing wrong now o.o

A few possible ideas come to mind:

1) is your bmp saved to 256 colours?
2) sometimes it is not the last 0 - the game sometimes adds an extra number - so check the numbers line up under the right headings
3) if you remove the spaces between your texture list, does that work?
4) the numbers at the end of the textures - maybe the game dislikes those?
