Windows 7 and Via Voice, what gives?

So I'm super frustrated because I am trying to get ViaVoice to work. I feel like I've tried a lot here, although I feel like most of what I am reading seems to pertain to Windows 10 and I am running it on Windows 7... Here's what I did and what happened.

I originally just download a zipped folder of Babyz, not mounted to my drive and no disk. I can run the game fine in just about any compatibility mode but no working ViaVoice.

I also have Petza installed.

I then tried downloading the Via Voice driver fix. I put the IBM folder in to my Babyz game folder which is in My Documents. I ran the install from within the folder, which did work, but in game still no Via Voice. I am wondering if just extracting the folder there and running setup is that what you are supposed to do? I feel like I am missing something or just overthinking because I feel like it sounds so simple lol

Then I tried actually downloading and mounting the game to my driver and running it. Game and ViaVoice both install but when I open I get the debug, no matter what compatibility I run in.


Just a side not that I can't install it from within the game, when in game the ViaVoice controls are grey like it isn't installed...

I am hopeful there is a way to get my mic working! Any suggestions?!

which viavoice install did you use? did you use the alternative one linked in the common issues thread? that's the only viavoice install i can ever get to work on any computer!

before you install it i also recommend deleting any IBM or viavoice folders from your registry, restarting your computer, and THEN installing it.

after you install it with the alternative driver above the game will pop up beforehand saying that it isn't installed but it should still work if you turn it on.

thank you ℓacey ☀️ That is the one I downloaded, I did clear the registry as well.. :/ For the driver folder am I doing this right: I unzip the IBM ViaVoice Version 5.3 folder into my main Babyz Folder (In my documents) I am just opening that folder and running setup. Is there something else I need to do, do I need to actually put the contents of the IBM ViaVoice Version 5.3 folder directly into my Babyz Folder?

when i did it i just unzipped it right into my documents and ran it from there, i don't think it should matter where you unzip it. does the program install and then it just still doesn't work, or does it not install?

and have you restarted your computer after installing it?

It installs fine, but still tells me if couldn't find the install when I go to open the game and doesnt work in game. Yup I have restarted

that is strange. mine tells me it can't find the install too but then when i click the microphone button it works. whenever i have viavoice issues i just install it like 5 times and it normally ends up working rofl.

hopefully someone else has a better suggestion for you!! i'm sorry i couldn't be more helpful <3
