Bmps Not Staying The Right Colour

Urrggg someone please help me before I pull all of my hair out. D:
I've attempted clothes hexing for the first time today and it's going well except that I've made a bmp I want to use, but when I go to change it to 256 colours it keeps going a completely different colour and it's oh so ugly. I don't often get this and it's really winding me up. When dealing with the whole PNG to 256 Bmp situation I use GIMP to change the PNG image into a bmp and I have to then save it through Paint to make it work in-game. It's the Paint bit that's the issue though, it'll only save it properly as a 16 colour bmp. Usually changing it through GIMP first works every time.

Is there another way I can do this but keep the colours? I really like how it looks and I don't really want to change it. :/

you can change to 256 in gimp (image > mode > indexed) although it won't save to the colours that actually show up in game unless you use the babyz colour table - but you can set that up in gimp too! (i don't remember how bc i haven't used gimp forever but it shuld be quite straightforward.)

Hi Lili, in the end I decided to just use a different colour and as frustrating as it is I'll just have to find colours that work in the future. This can be closed, thank you for all your help. <3

yeah 256 is the W O R S T but i am glad you managed to a workaround at least <3
