Hexing hairstyles (for a total photo editing beginner!)

Hi, so I’m getting back into the game, and would love to attempt to make some of these beautiful hairstyles that I see everywhere! The only issue is that I have no experience in photo editing whatsoever. I don’t even know the best program to use? Could anyone please guide me through the process in simpleton terms, or just give me any advice at all? Thank you!

hi jess, you actually don't need any photo editing experience to create a hairstyle! my hexing university course teaches you how to manipulate addballs and lines to create hairstyles. i recommend following the course all the way through to learn the basics before trying to create a hairstyle though!

if you're talking about bmp-based hairstyles, they are done similarly to placing hair decorations/tattoos which is also covered in the hexing university course.

as far as photo editors go, though, i personally use photoshop but i've heard paint shop pro and gimp are also good alternatives!

for bmps I use Krita (free photoshop-like software) and I use Irfanview to force the bmps into the babyz colour spectrum. GIMP is another free software you can use. There are tutorials on youtube for how to use digital illustration software no matter what you go with. And ɾiley 👾 's home board has a class on how to do bmp hairs  I also highly suggest Lacey's hexing university !!

Thanks for your response! I have tried the hexing university, and it is a very great helpful course that has definitely helped me a lot, but I am wondering how to produce something like the variation of pigtails that accompanies the bmp textures, which is on your website? Can I do this with simple addballs and linez? 

I can't really afford to get photoshop, so I will try the other softwares!

if so then yes, these were done entirely by moving addballs (and the addballs and lines are all copy and paste-able from my website as well)

EDIT: oh or if you meant these:


those are also entirely addballs and lines :D

Yes, I was talking about the second one, thank you! I am definitely inspired to give it a go now, as I expected that to be made on a photo editor.
