hello milky friends! ? at long last i have gotten around to making a bmp hairstyle tutorial! ?
many thanks to riley and her genius invention of this technique, without her it wouldn't exist! <3
i did my best to cover everything i could think of but feel free to ask questions <3 so, buckle up, get comfy and let's get to it! ?
aaand once you've positioned everything that's pretty much it for the basic steps! good luck! ?
here are some tips and tricks of things i have learned in my experience with this method of hairstyle creation, if you are interested!
final tip/trick: "cut off" ends!
i'll add this tip/trick in written form last seeing as i don't have a visual example! sometimes you may find that no matter how much you resize the addball the tips of the strand can get "cut off", you'll know this has happened when it looks much blunter than you drew it. in this case i usually go into the bmp and bump up the strand a few pixels at a time until it fits right. sometimes you may need to bump it over a few pixels to the left or right as well. this is something i had to do with all the longer strands in this style!
an unexpected final step edit:
i'm adding this in a few months later because i just finished cleaning up this style and making it better and i wanted to talk about it because it's probably helpful information! ?
so i was super unhappy with this style for a lot of reasons, it sat funny and moved weird and just all around wasn't what i was envisioning. this happens sometimes with hexing! usually, i end up dropping the hairstyle completely when it does, if i'm brutally honest. but i made myself grin and bear it this time bc i really want this style to work and i also feel like it doesn't make much sense to have the hairstyle tutorial be one i don't even like!
1) the first thing i realized, which is actually something i learned with the creation of this style; a piece of hair drawn to sit from the top to the bottom of the head like it was originally is never going to sit right lol - so the first thing i did was chop down the pieces so they didn't include the long awkward top parts. they were super unnecessary anyway honestly, the hair had the shape i wanted regardless ?♀️ so i guess my advice here specifically is not to draw the hair strand starting right from the top of the head and curving around, start it from where you want it to sit on the head!
2) add some detail! something i'm finding more and more as i get comfier with hairstyle hexing is that chunks of hair just don't look as nice or realistic even though that is what we're used to with the limitations of ball & line hairstyle hexing. but here, add some fluff, some stray baby hairs! without the restrictions of lines limits there's nothing stopping us from having all the little baby fluffies we want, and we should most certainly be exercising that liberty! ?
3) in some cases a hairstyle can also be missing something! in this case i realized it needed another little piece to intergrate the long swoopy bang into the rest of the hair. so i added a new piece of hair on either side of the bangs, also!
i also added some detail to the pieces hopefully my visual examples here help explain if my words don't! ? feel free to ask questions lovelies! <3
and that's all folks! here is my finished product! <3

you will need:
♥ a front facing picture of a baby with no added hair to edit - you can use mine if you like!
i'm not sure where to find them all in one place so i've included them here - someone please let me know if they know where they can be found!
♥ a photo editing program - i use photoshop but there are plenty of free alternatives out there like gimp!
*what i use for best colour conversion results! other methods exist but i couldn't help any further on those!
♥ lnz pro
♥ recommended: basic knowledge of hexing and photo editing as well as a whole lot of patience!
