today i have another mini tutorial for you guys in honor of hexing week!
i am going to teach you all about using ball size override.
[Ball Size Override] is a section that you can add to a babyz file, similar to [No Texture Rotate] in that it isn't actually in the file by default and has to be added in. ball size override functions exactly how it sounds: it can "override" the default size of the balls that make up your baby's body. when we hex with addballs to make hair, we can easily control the sizes of those balls right there in the addball code, but the body balls (the ones you can see under [Ballz Info] such as the head, wrists, elbows, knees, shoulders, etc) don't quite work in the same way, so ball size override allows us to have that same level of control over the sizes of those balls as well.
using ball size override is super easy!
first, type or paste [Ball Size Override] into the baby file. i usually put it right under the [Default Scales] section since i'm often interacting with those two sections together.
beneath that, you'll want to write the ball number, and then the amount you want to resize it by.
for example in the screenshot above, you can see i'm wanting to make the baby's head smaller. so, i wrote the ball number (63 for the head) and -20 (to reduce the size by 20). they have to be written just like that with no commas, just a space between the ball number and resize number.
like anything else while hexing, it may take a little trial and error to get the size exactly how you want! once you get familiar with ball size override you can use it to create really cute custom sized babyz that look exactly how you want it! for example, below you can see the difference between two custom sizes i love to use vs. the default sizes at that scale.
the blonde baby with 2 pigtails in both examples above has the same exact "default scales" numbers with the babyz on the right of her.
however, the babyz on the right have been custom sized with ball size override, so they have larger eyes and noses, smaller foreheads, and overall more cutely-proportioned features.
