hexing addball toys is not super difficult, but it does require a few extra steps to get started. when you first open one of the base addball toys, such as the teddy bear, in lnzpro you might notice that it doesn't have an actual LNZ section that you can hex from. that's because the LNZ sections for these toys are located in a different file!
navigate to your game's resource folder and locate the file called "babyzrez.dll". it should be located at the bottom after all of the folders.
right click on the file and choose "open with" and open that dll file in LNZ pro.
when you open this file in LNZ pro you will see a list of different things in the sidebar, and if you expand any of those things you will see even longer lists of things, some going all down the sidebar! that's because babyzrez.dll is where a huge chunk of the game data is pulled from. (fun fact, this file was also what people used to hex babyz with before we started hexing the individual babyz files directly. we used to have to change something and then open the game and put in the code to adopt a new baby every single time to see our changes. oh, how far we have come!)
go ahead and expand the list that says "LNZ".
go down the list until you find the one called BROWNTEDDY. bingo! that's the one we want. if you click on it you will see the LNZ section for the teddy in the game! since we want to make a brand new toy from the teddy, we want to bring this LNZ over to our teddy file that we are hexing from.
right click on "BROWNTEDDY" and select "save to file". you can save it anywhere that you'll be able to find it again, and make sure you save it as "brownteddy".
once you have saved the LNZ, you can close babyzrez.dll.
go back to the teddy bear toy file that you are hexing from, right click in the sidebar, and select "add resource".
a little window should pop up. click "browse" and locate your brownteddy file we saved from babyzrez.dll.
if the resource type doesn't automatically fill in as LNZ, you can type it in just like i did above. then, click create.
and voila! your teddy now has a LNZ section that we are able to modify to create a brand new addball toy! before you go any further, make sure you save the file so you don't need to do it again. if you plan to make a lot of addball toys in the future, it wouldn't be a bad idea to save a copy of this teddy file with the LNZ already in it for easy editing in the future as well!
