you read that right - milk is moving to a new forum host!
we have been with proboards for 18 years, and while it has been a wonderful place for our little community for so long, past and recent security issues have forced us to look for a new host. proboards is an amazing forum platform with so many great features, but the one feature it is lacking is any real security measures to keep attacks like what happened 2 years ago and (to a lesser but still concerning extent) this past week, from happening again. milk is a safe space for so many of us, and the last thing we ever want is for anyone to feel unsafe, threatened, or exposed when posting here.
so for these reasons, we have spent the last few days migrating milk to a new, more secure forum platform! the new platform has a ton of really cool features including many that proboards never had that we'll be able to try out and implement to make milk even more engaging and fun. most importantly, it has significantly better security especially when it comes to getting into staff areas and permissions.
what does this mean for the current milk?
proboards milk (the one you're currently reading this on) is not going anywhere; following a brief transitional period, proboards milk will become "read-only" so we will always have our history, past events, and old posts to reference and look back upon. however, all new posts will be made on the new forum.
will all of our posts be moved?
with this new forum we are starting fresh, so everything you want from proboards milk will need to be moved over manually and remade on the new forum. however as i mentioned you don't need to move over all your old posts since this forum will stay up as a read-only reference you can link to.
what about unfinished requests, adoptions, or pageants?
• all unfinished adoption threads can be wrapped up on proboards, but all new adoption threads should be made on the new forum. adoption threads posted on the new forum will still count for the current adoption weekend of course!
• if you have an outstanding pageant on proboards you have a couple options: you can either port the pageant over to the new forum and make a reply post with all the entries and name/suffixes for easy grabbing, OR you can judge on proboards, as long as you post the points in the points thread on the new forum.
• all new pageants should be posted on the new forum.
• commission threads and other made-to-order studio request threads can be ported over to the studio on the new forum. if there are commissions you haven't filled yet, i recommend saving the member's form somewhere on your personal computer and posting the finished baby reveal on the new forum.
• fall festival booths should be ported over to our new festival setup boards on the new forum.
how do i get to the new forum?
if you are on discord, the link to the new forum will be exclusively posted there for now.
in addition, we will be PMing any members not on discord with the new forum link.
this likely will not be the case forever, but due to some issues this past week we feel it is safest to limit where the link is posted for the moment!
also I seem to have lost the Discord XD I don't post like at all, but do lurk
