What's the best -method- for hexing babyz?

Hi there, ladies!

It's been a long time since I've hexed anything, but I did it with SUCH frequency and intensity in the Petz community that I figured 'hey, this shouldn't be too hard to grasp'. Naturally, being the lover of Lnz pro and Pet workshop that I am, I found myself a bit stumped as to where to even begin (Note to self: Make a babyz hexing dummy for pet workshop). After reading the tutorials, I'm confident I'm familiar with all the sections of the lnz and can find my way around what I'm not so used to. What I'm looking for here is some tips and tricks from more experienced babyz hexers.

-Do you hex exclusively from the babyrezdll or do you hex individual babyz?
-Is there a way to make edits to a babyz you've already adopted? (I was having trouble with that earlier)
-What is the best method to start with hair? Do you lay out the entire thing and go back and add details like curls? Or do you just detail as you build?
-Has anyone ever attempted to make changes to the hands? (Like adding joints within the fingers to give them a more natural, curved shape. Not that their hands aren't adorable, I just love messing with stuff)
-More questions as I think of them, lol.

Hey Manda, I think you'll make a fantastic baby hexer! I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time, specially with all of your experience hexing petz.

For me personally, I adopt a baby and then hex from that baby's file. A couple pros to this method is that you won't have the issue of accidentally messing up your babyrez.dll, since you won't be touching it at all. Sometimes when hexing from the babyrez.dll it will go corrupt when hexing and that will stop you from opening the game entirely, making it where you have to fix whatever went wrong (if you can find out what caused it), or else having to overwrite it with a clean one, possibly losing all the work you've done.

Absolutely! You can edit already adopted babyz all the time. This is the key way that I hex.

For hairstyle hexing, I follow Jane's guide here: milkbc.proboards.com/thread/43886/tip-hex-hairstyle?page=1 - I draw roughly what I want, and then hex by overlaying the real baby with the paint shop image of a baby as I go along. So I hex the details as I go, rather than adding them later. Sometimes I will come back and add more details after I've hexed the rest of the bulk of the hairstyle, such as to add more little flyaways.

I'm sure at some point someone has probably made changes to the hands, though I have personally never seen it. I'm certain it can be done, though! I've seen people turn babyz into centaurs, mermaids and all sorts of other things, so I'm sure edits to the hands are possible if that much stuff can be done.

There's actually a base here that's basically just a head ball you can hex on in petz workshop and it's quite easy to transfer onto babyz:

I hex pretty much the same as Rima! it's always easier to hex onto a babyz file in my opinion!

I'm sure changes to the hand are possible, though I'm unsure that they'll be able to 'move' as you attach them to a ball and they move with that, I don't think it's possible to make it move on it's own.

Sorry to hijack Manda's thread, but just curious, are there any hexing tutorials for working on a .baby file rather than the babyzrez.dll? I had browsed through the tutorials here (just the LNZPro ones, so without looking at the others, I may have missed the answer to my question) and only saw ones for the babyzrez.dll. I can barely hex petz, but was wanting to just read up on babyz hexing stuff and learn to do basic stuff.
