Running Babyz on XP

Install babyz as normal
Have a baby ready to play with or download a freebie.
Put baby into Adoption folder
Open babyz
Go to 'Options' -> 'General Options'
Untick Babyz Sounds On

Running Babyz on Vista

Install in My Documents or similar (not program files)
Have a baby ready to play with or download a freebie.
Put baby into Adoption folder
Open babyz
Go to 'Options' -> 'General Options'
Untick Babyz Sounds On

Running ViaVoice on Vista

If it doesn't work try the following:

Download this pack from Carolyn's: boardwalkerz.com/carolyn/vvccr/index.htm

Follow the instructions.
When installed open babyz, it might say "you have to restart", ignore it and continue, click on the yellow mic button on the pull-menu. It'll say it might not work properly. Ignore and continue.

It should now work!

Other Fixes

Right click on the Babyz.exe and change compatibility to 2000.

Babyz worked fine yesterday. Now I get a msg

Sorry, but Babyz could not run because of the following error: Asset not found

Asset = ms.clo. This may be caused by low memory or lack of hard disk space.

I looked in folder and now there seems to be no adoption, grandma or resource folders. Also, how can I install the game in documents folder? It goes where it wants and doesn't give me a choice to select where I want it. Vista sucks, I'm just not used to it yet.

As for installing it in Documents, it always gives me the option - so maybe you just clicked your way past it? I know I click things too quickly sometimes on installing iTunes updates and stuff, I really shouldn't, who know what I could be agreeing for it to do

I did all the steps and still can't get the game to work, it worked all that first day logging in a number of times. That night it decided not to work. I didn't have a problem with ViaVoice, sound worked from the start. I have no idea what to do now. I looked at the files and don't see a Resource folder even though I've uninstalled/reinstalled twice now. I uninstalled PetzA too cuz I was pretty sure it won't work unless I did the game first. I'm not super pc literate, if anyone has some simple ideas of what to try now.

Mmm. Viavoice if for the microphone, so that shouldn't effect the game - I don't even have it. You may have to try an older version of Petza, I think I have like three version before the newest (if that makes sesne) because the new one never works in my game.
Is it still installed in your Program Files? Windows7 and Vista have this habit of hiding some of the babyz files, which is why it's best to install it in Docs.
Also...... it is a really old game, and if yours is like mine then sometimes it will just be like "screw you, I'm not gonna work, so quit trying" Sometimes if you leave it, then it will just work again for no reason.

So, the problem has been fixed but silly me has messed it up once again. I have the Bug Abort thingy popping up and can't get in the game. I remember there was a way to fix it long ago but just can't find any info on it. I had put baby monitors in each room (maybe I shouldn't have done this?). Any way it now won't work. I tried to remove it from the folder, didn't help so I put it back. I'm pretty sure the monitors is what did it though. I tried the shift + ctrl but that didn't help. Anyone know what else I can do? Thanks for the help.

I had tried to reset registry but kept getting the "bug error". I removed the Babyz from folder the game allowed me to adopt, fixing the game. Thank you!

OMG!!!! >.<

I have tried every single thing and it still loads the yellow bar, but won't open the game, saying the clothes file is missing that isn't missing! I don't want to give up but it looks like it's impossible
